Debbie Ladd

Debbie Ladd (Lichtman) has written children’s stories since the 1980’s and has worked in the field of education for over 40 years.

Debbie attributes her love of reading and education to her parents. Her mother frequently took Debbie and her siblings to the library during their childhood, and her father filled their thoughts with his made-up stories of a famous pilot named Mr. G. These special moments helped Debbie to emerge as a master teacher who earned national and local recognition for her work as a journalism adviser in both Florida and in Oregon. Due to her successes in the classroom, she was invited to speak at national conventions around the country and critique periodicals for several organizations. She was also presented with the Gold Award by a national publishing company. Debbie later provided in-service training to adults on the topics of classroom and student organizational skills as well as on how to write and publish children’s books.

Debbie’s love of teaching continues. Although she retired several years ago, she entertains young people through a world of reality, fantasy, and curiosity with school visitations. As an author and speaker, Debbie brings the joy of reading to students as she shares a world of wonderment with them. She has been a guest author in various venues, including in private and public elementary and preschools, in libraries, in park and recreation centers, and at Starbucks in conjunction with its literacy program. She tailors each presentation to her specific audience and enjoys making the experience fun and memorable. Debbie also takes the time, during each visit, to write a personalized message as she autographs each book received by each child.

This writer was profiled in the Journal, a California Central Coast publication. She was also featured in both Who’s Who in America and in Who’s Who of American Women.

Debbie’s stories vary in content, from exploring life’s lessons to embracing imagination and fantasy. What If? is recommended as a Best Bet by Child magazine and is commended by Parent magazine. Ethan the Ending Eater received high praise from Midwest Book Review. Nurse Robin’s Hats received a complimentary testimonial from the main headquarters of Locks of Love, and her first two books, Don’t Pick Your Nose and Puddles, are endorsed by best-selling author, Don Maruska.

Other stories written by this author include My Suitcase, Max Caught a Star in His Baseball Glove, My Grocery Cart, Our Clothesline, The Woodpecker’s Headache, The Fan Sea Waterway, and It’s About Time.
